Out beyond the ideas of right-doing or wrong-doing there is a field - I'll meet you there.

Menaka

I see your form, O Tejaswini!
As a golden fawn sipping
From the stream of Life
That flows eternal
Through the Forest's heart

Ever I desire to pass lightly on
To see, smile and praise
The beauty of the Forest
That dances beneath
Your gently undulating feet

Yet all roads I take today lead me
Away from visions of eternity
In search of your shadow
An exquisite trap indeed
Spun with the very fabric of the Sun

Your face with its mantle of hair
Speaks of rain-laden clouds
Yet walking in the rain
Vainly I seek your face
In vain transports of longing

`Leave your arid cave, O sadhu!
Behold my graceful splendor
As I dance with my eyes
In youth's sunlight,
In deep and secret glades'

Menaka! Menaka! The Forest is aflame
In the throes of my passion
The winds of your beauty
Fan it to a mighty blaze
As it consumes all my tranquility
